We are going to base our skill building aspect of the camp around a special game that was created by the Graves family. The game was developed over many years and we are excited to share it with you. It is a game of discovery where the kids discover themselves, skills, talents, and abilities. The game incorporates freely moving, fluid strategy by playing quickly and non-stop. We have discovered that playing the game in a confined space provides increased repetition of fundamental skills utilized in all aspects of the game. Observed results include increased agility, confidence, and love for the game.
David Jr. came across a book entitled, The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle, where the book described how and why certain hot spots of talent existed in specific parts of the world. In the book, it detailed a similar game called "futsal". Futsal, a Brazilian game played in confined spaces, has been described as, "soccer in a living room." Young Brazilian soccer players have been brought up and developed as athletes with futsal, which has led them to gain superior footwork, control, and notoriety in the game of soccer. Our goal is to use our game, which parallels futsal, to perpetuate the talent hot bed we have in our Sacramento area. We are excited to share it with you.
At Graves Family Football Camp, we will also be running position specific drills. This is your chance to play any position you want, as we encourage everyone getting a chance to develop skills in a position they're not yet familiar with. We believe all kids develop at different ages and paces, so we want to provide an opportunity for each camper to discover something new about themselves. .
